Poultry Nutrition Course

This year we will be presenting a course in Poultry Nutrition from the 21st – 23rd of September, 2020. The following aspects relating to nutrition will be dealt with:

  • An introduction to protein and energy nutrition in poultry.

  • Some background on the other nutrients.

  • The anatomy, physiology and health of the digestive tract.

  • The practical feeding of commercial poultry; layers, broiler and breeders.

  • Enzymes and their application.

The objective of the course is to explore some of the underlying principles of nutrition rather than to spell out a step by step methodology for formulating diets. It covers the basics of nutrition, together with detailed discussion on the nutrition and feeding of broilers, laying hens and broiler breeders. The course is aimed at nutritionists; poultry service personnel and poultry producers. A book containing all of the slides used for the course will be provided. In addition, the material covered in the course is mostly included in my book – “Chicken Nutrition”, which would be an optional extra for attendees if required.

The cost of the Poultry Course is R 5750.00 (excluding VAT).

The course it will be held at the Glenburn Lodge, near Lanseria airport. This is a rural venue close to the city. Accommodation is available at Glenburn for R 1100.00 per night, which includes breakfast and dinner.
